Big Surf at Bird Rock

The waves have been big the past few days. Big as in waking us up at night because we heard them crashing. The sound travels up the hill to our house and we not only hear the sound, we feel the vibrations. The ocean power always impresses me and today, on my walk, I captured some pictures of the waves breaking over Bird Rock. I brought along my Canon Elph and iPhone.

The still is from the Canon, the video is from the iPhone.

The waves themselves are 15-20 feet high and when they hit the rocks on the shore, they send up a mist that blankets the entire shoreline. If you click on the picture you'll get the full size image and you can see seals on the rock, giving some perspective to the fury of the waves.

Adding Video to a Web Page

W3schools on HTML5 Video

HTML 5 for Embedding Video

Here's the html for the video:

	video width="640" height="360" controls
  		source src="BigSurf-1280x720.mp4" type="video/mp4"
Your browser does not support the video tag.
	/video

I took the 720 video and tried to make the size smaller via QuickTime. The resulting file was actually larger than the 720.
