Cannery Workers - Low resolution- Click picture to enlarge
This is another mural by John Cerney of Salinas. The image of Cannery Row workers from Steinbeck's novel. There are two murals on the Recreation Trail in Monterey between the Aquarium and the Coast Guard pier. The rec trail itself is on what was once the rail line that connected the Monterey Penninsula to the outside world. The line ran all the way out to the sand mines where the Spanish Bay resort is now. When Fort Ord closed in the 1990s the tracks were abandoned and much of the right of way has become the bike and recreation trail that many enjoy.
Friends from Oregon swing by for a visit on their way to Arizona.
John's engineering background goes back to 6501/6502 machine language.
Some folks are identified by the technology of their day:
I relate most to the Macintosh. My first computer in 1984 and my current computer are all Apple Macintoshes. Like following a family, I watched them being born, grow, mature, stumble and settle into life.
I identify more with technology than social causes. Politics and social issues only anger, astonish or bore me.
