I'm still learning about my camera and how to use it with my older lenses. Today's picture was taken with my D5600 set to manual. The lens is a Micro Nikkor 55mm AI lense that I purchased in the 1980s. The lens is very sharp. I could focus on the patterns in the leaf. By using a large aperture I put the background out of focus. The round circles of light are created by the light coming through the lens aperture blades. The popular term for this is " Bokeh " a word I hadn't heard before.
The Micro-NIKKOR 55mm f2.8 is not a modern lens and doesn't have autofocus and electronics to support many of the features of the D5600. But the camera allows complete manual controls and focus with this lens and will still provide metering and focus assist. The image review feature is very valuable and I can check exposure in ways I never could with a film camera.
