I brought home an Apple HomePod yesterday. I've been looking at the reviews and thought I would check it out myself. I was intrigued with the technology and expected to really hear something fantastic. I'm disappointed.
I'm not a high fidelity nerd but I enjoy good sounding audio. There have been times I was blown away by audio gear and I could clearly hear the differences. But there have been other times when I was told how great speakers or audio gear would be, only to have it make no impression. Some of this is me, I don't have 'good ears' and can't identify notes and keys. As I get older there's been a drop in what I can even detect. But there is a certain sound I like and the HomePod is not meeting this. I'll give it a few more days of listening in various settings but it will likely go back.
